Double celebrations for www.myschoollunch.co.uk

20th November 2008

Everyone involved with local business, AVF Marketing and its school catering website, www.myschoollunch.co.uk had cause for an extra celebration at the Caterersearch.com website awards for 2008. Firstly the website won the Innovation and Interactive category and then went on to win the overall prize of Website of the Year. It beat well known brands such as Gleneagles Hotel, McCains and Youngs Brewery who were some of the winners of other categories. The My school lunch website includes a funfair of educational games about healthy eating to make the subject fun and interesting to children. There is a section for adults so they can find out what’s on the menu and how each authority promotes healthy eating to Primary School pupils. Teachers can download lesson plans and worksheets that link the games to Key Stages One and Two of the National Curriculum.

Father and daughter, Arnold and Karen Fewell, with their two awardsArnold Fewell, Managing Director of AVF Marketing who created the website, said, “There are 26 local authorities taking part in this project and more are in the pipe line. We could not have won these awards without their help and involvement and everyone of them are winners of these two awards. We have nearly 70,000 visitors a month to our websites and visitors are spending on average well over twenty minutes per visit so they must be enjoying their time online. Also it is playing a key role in promoting healthy eating and the work school caterers are doing to educate families about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The website shows how much excellent work is being done to implement the new nutritional standards and the way the subject has been made fun and enjoyable for young children”.

Amanda Afiya, Web Editor of Caterersearch.com, said “The judges said that www.myschoollunch.co.uk was the most interactive website and promoted healthy eating in an appealing and creative manner to its target audience. It sends out good messages to children and gives out important and useful information to parents. In the final judging for Website of the Year one judge said she wanted to spend hours on it looking and learning and there were games and quizzes that children will enjoy. Also it gave the visitor plenty of reasons to come back time and again”.

There are more exciting additions in the pipeline as the website will follow and support Tom Daley in his progress to London 2012 and there will be a new section where caterers can show their own video clips of the school catering service.

For more information about the website please go to www.myschoollunch.co.uk or phone Arnold Fewell on 01609 775686.
