Maximise your PR potential
November 2006
Whether you are a sole trader, small business or multi-national organisation Public Relations (PR as it is well known) is something that you will need to deal with. Positive PR can be very beneficial but negative PR could damage your reputation.
PR should never be purely reactive. You should be actively looking for PR stories all year round and building up relationships with the local media and your other stakeholders.
Many people fear a call from a journalist but don’t forget that they need you to help them fill their papers so people will buy them. Try and make sure it is the success of your business that they are reading about. Sending out regular press releases to the media whether it’s local, national, trade, radio or TV is a great way of getting your company recognised.
