Arnold Fewell
Managing director
Arnold Fewell

An “inspirational thinker”

Arnold was once described by a colleague as “a radiator, not a sponge” because of his ability to see outside the box and develop his own effective and often innovative solutions that he would sell-in to others.  He has extensive experience in all aspects of marketing and PR.  He has authored the Sodexho School Meals Survey since 1994 and has considerable experience in providing school meals and encouraging children to select the healthier options.  Arnold started his career as a hotelier, but in 1985 he joined North Yorkshire County Council as Education Catering Manager.  He introduced a range of innovative marketing techniques that led to national recognition including the Daily Telegraph Award for Marketing Innovation in 1999 and the Chartered Institute of Marketing Award in the same year.

In 2003, he created a new website at www.myschoollunch.co.uk.  This provides local authorities an opportunity to give more information to parents and promote healthy eating to pupils.  The site was recommended in the Government’s blueprint for healthy schools and has won a number of awards including the 2004 International Management Advisory Award from the Foodservice Consultants Society International.

Arnold is also a specialist in the DDA and is a wheelchair user.  He can provide you with a detailed audit of your work environment and services and provide advice on how you can ensure you are meeting the needs of your disabled customers.  If you want to offer staff training on disability issues what better person to lead the training than someone who has experienced these issues first hand.

Arnold is full of creative ideas and always inspires others with his enthusiasm for marketing and meeting customers needs.  If you need an idea or a solution Arnold will help you find the best way ahead.

“The blue-eyed girl”

Anyone who meets Lynn will realise why we call her the blue-eyed girl as she impresses everyone who meets her.  Her warming personality, attention to detail and the ability to keep everyone else in check is what ensures our business runs smoothly. Lynn started her career working in the hotel industry in Lincoln where she was a hotel receptionist and gained experience in all aspects of the hotel industry. She was always a hit with the customers and ensured their needs were fully met.

She has worked for AVF Marketing Ltd from the outset and has provided full administrative and financial support.  She has also assisted Arnold in organising high profile national events including conferences, National School Meals Week and supported Arnold with many marketing campaigns.

It really is a case of the business could not manage without her!

Nicola Proud
Marketing and communications manager
Nicola Proud

“The Communicator”

Nicola has worked in a marketing environment for five years and has completed the CIM Certificate in Marketing.  She began her marketing career working for City of York Council’s marketing and communications department in the press office and the publications team.  This role made Nicola realise she had a love for writing as she was writing articles for internal and external publications and press releases.  She also handled media enquiries providing a positive council response as and when required.  Not only does she provide copy for marketing material, including websites and printed material, Nicola also writes in her spare time and in 2005 she wrote a pantomime script and directed the show to raise money for charity.

Nicola also has event management experience which she gained working for Europe’s largest health club chain Fitness First.  She worked with Sport Relief - the BBC Sport and Comic Relief initiative – to organise a Sport Relief Mile Run for the City of York.  More recently she worked for Butterwick Children’s Hospice as a fundraiser, generating awareness of the charity through extensive PR including TV, radio, newspaper and organising a wide range of fundraising events.

We call Nicola ‘the communicator’ as having attended a Plain English course and being an experienced writer she ensures all her copy is written in a readable style appropriate for the audience.  She loves working on anything PR related and has had huge success in this area since she began working at City of York Council.

“Miss Fix-it”

Miss Fix-it is a very appropriate name for Karen and I’m sure anyone who meets her would agree.  She is the link that holds the projects together ensuring deadlines are met and everyone is kept informed of what is happening.  She’s always the first to be informed of any difficulty and keen to fix it as soon as possible for the customer.  Karen studied a degree in Media Production at Bournemouth University and graduated in 1999.  She has worked with her current employer, InDzine for the last seven years.  Her career began working for the production team and she has worked her way up to account manager of the creative agency based in Maidenhead.  Her experience is also backed up by her knowledge which was gained studying the CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing.  Not only has Karen brought many new clients to the company she has built great relationships with all the clients she works with.  Her attention to detail and organisation whilst working under pressure to meet deadlines means she has the edge over many competitors.

Karen also works in partnership with Arnold on www.myschoollunch.co.uk and has vast experience of marketing to children through the extensive work she has done on this award winning website.  She is heavily involved in developing this site and other new websites aimed at young people.  This involves managing teachers and other specialists to ensure accurate and up to date information is available to meet the needs of young people.
